SUBSIDY REMOVAL: FG TO VOTE 100BN FOR MASS TRANSIT BUSES

The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Simon Lalong has hinted that, the Tinubu-led government is set to vote one hundred billion naira for the procurement of mass transit buses to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians in the wake of the subsidy removal.

This followed an impending strike the organized Labour had planned to embark on today as a result of the fall-out of hike in the price of premium motor spirit and the country’s growing inflationary rate.

Rising from the high-powered meeting between the organized Labour executives and the federal government delegation, Lalong  read a 15 point agenda communiqué of the meeting and also disclosed that presidential  committees have been set up to look into the welfare of workers.

The government according to the communiqué has earmarked 25,000 naira for households, while the minimum wage of workers has been raised to 35,000 Naira for the next three months.

These resolutions have now prompted the organized Labour to call off its strike until October the 30th.

Meanwhile, the association of professional employees has criticized the move, while insisting that the tripartite were not part of the negotiation process.
