The supposed “Victoria Secret Karen”Abigail Elphick in a viral video was captured crying after what looks like an attack on the black woman, and later seen chasing Ms Ukenta around the store, before calling the police.
Ms Ukenta captured the event mid-way through the altercation, and later posted the footage on the web in a series she tagged Karen Goes Crazy.
“Karen” undoubtedly is a slang which means a white, middle-class woman who uses her perceived privilege against people of colour.
According to eyewitness report Ms Ukenta was quoted as saying she was shopping for underwear when Ms Elphick started surfing uncomfortably close to her, then she asked her to "stay off” but in a swift response Ms Elphick reported Ms Ukenta to a Victoria’s Secret employee for threatening her.
The distressing clips taken by Ms Ukenta seems to show Ms Elphick rushing at her, afterwards screaming, asking not to be filmed, and was later seen chasing Ms Ukenta around the store. Ms Elphick later left the store and was not arrested or charged.
In an unconfirmed police report, the woman said she was at fault but that she had a panic attack after realizing Ms Ukenta was filming her.
Ms Elphick has since posted her own side of the story sharing some pictures on her Instagram page to back up her claims.
