BUHARI TO STAY OFF EID PRAYER GROUND


President Mohammadu Buhari to spend Eid,-el-fitri with Family



The presidency has confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari will not be observing Congregational eid prayers at designated prayer ground instead will be praying with members of his family at home.

This according to the presidency via a statement is in observance of the lockdown measures in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, put in place “to save and  protect lives from all dangers.”
Eid prayer is thought to be an Islamic prayer held in large congregations, to mark the end of the Ramadan fast. 

This year’s festivity coincides with the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus pandemic which has compelled authorities to thread with caution with the celebrations.

In the same vein the sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has admonished Nigerian Muslims to observe the congregational prayers for this year’s Eid-el-Fitri in their homes.

The sultan is the leader of Nigerian Muslims and has also suspended all prayers, gatherings in the outskirts of towns and cities amid the COVID-19 pandemic. 

He spoke through the JNI Secretary-General, Dr Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, in a statement in Kaduna, however, noted that in states where government had reached decision to mark the Eid-el-Fitri, Muslims should observe social distancing, wear face masks and use hand sanitisers provided for worshippers to check the spread of the COVID-19.
