Nigerians are angered over the rape and murder of an undergraduate student of Univetsity of Benin inside a Redeem Christian church in Edo state.

Uwaila Omozuwa was a 100 level microbiology student who had gone to the church to read before her assailants tortured and raped her which later led to her death.

A woman leader at the tertiary institution has been speaking on how the news have become devastating for the university community.

The General Overseer of the Redeem Christian Church has since said he will be praying for uwa and her family while working with relevant security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.


Nigerians have now reacted causing a stir on the social media with a trending hadhtag #justiceforuwa.









The reoccurring cases of rape in Nigeria is alarming, in 2012, a postgraduate student, Cynthia osokogu was lured from Nasarawa to Lagos state, raped and strangled to death in an hotel in Festac town.

In 2017, a high court in Lagos sentenced the perpetrators to death by hanging.

Now, Nigerians are hopeful that justice will prevail in Uwa's case.
