TWO YEARS AFTER, FAMILY OF KHASHOGGI FORGIVES HIS KILLERS.

Jamal khashoggi

Barely two years after he was gruesomely murdered at his country's consulate in  Istanbul, family of Saudi Arabian Journalist Jamal Khashoggi has seized the opportunity of the holy month of Ramadan to forgive his killers.

Mr Khashoggi before his death worked as a US-based columnist for the Washington post.

In a statement, published on Friday, on Twitter by Khashoggi's son Salah, he was quoted as saying: "In this blessed night of the blessed month [of Ramadan] we remember God's' saying: 'If a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah

It could recalled that before Mr Khashoggi was murdered he had gone to the Saudi consulate to obtain documents for his impending wedding.

It is however unclear if the family entered an arrangement with the government to toe the path of peace as enshrined in Saudi laws  for reconciliation in a murder case which attracts the payment of blood money to the family of a murdered victim known as diya.
