Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has warned president Muhammadu to reduce its expenditure on wasteful projects such as the maintenance of the presidential Air fleet or face dire economic consequences.

The former Peoples Democratic Party presidential aspirant declared in a tweet he titled Nigeria In Financial Crisis: Robbing our Children to Pay for our greed on Tuesday seems perturbed by the ongoing borrowing spree by the present administration.

Atiku expressed shock that Nigeria's first quarter 2020 financial reports in the medium term expenditure framework and fiscal strategy from the ministry of finance shows the  country spent  a total of  ₦943.12 billion in debt servicing, and retained ₦950.56 billion as revenue for the same period.

This according to Atiku is alarming emphasising that it invariably means the country revenue ratio is now at 99%.
