FG PAYS 4.6BN AS HAZARD ALLOWANCE TO HEALTH WORKERS, RESIDENT DOCTORS SUSPEND STRIKE.

The presidency has hinted that it has paid 4.6 billion naira as Hazard allowance to more than 55 thousand health workers in 35 covid-19 designated hospitals and medical centres in Nigeria.

This is coming in the aftermath of a National Association of Resident Doctors strike which has now been called off to allow government fulfill its obligations to the striking doctors



The federal government also disclosed that additional payments are currently being processed.

In a breakdown on twitter the government explained that 50% of consolidated Basic salary will be paid to all workers in covid-19 designated hospitals and centres.

While 40% of consolidated basic salary will be for health workers in non-covid-19 designated hospitals and centres.



The resident doctors according to its president Aliyu Sokombo suspended their strike which will take immediate effect from Monday June the 22nd after granting pleas from the speaker of the house of representatives Femi Gbajabiamila , Secretary to the government of the federation Boss Mustapha and the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors forum Kayode.

This was contained in a statement by NARD which also quoted its president as indicating that, the executive council had a virtual meeting with 300 members of the association before arriving at the decision to suspend the strike.
